George was trying to settle into retirement when we lured him to SimplyLEDs to serve as our chief operating officer. To be honest, it wasn’t hard to get George to make the move — the challenge of growing a start-up company that would provide U.S. manufacturing jobs was too great for him to pass up. He has been energized by our environment, which he says is more than just work; it inspires people to want to come to work and contribute. His strategic skills extend beyond the office: He’s been a big game hunting guide in Alaska for more than 20 years and has the patience to wait out the steelhead on the Salmon River.
